![]() "THE WORD OF THE LORD ENDURETH FOREVER"~~I Peter 1:24-25by Elder Joe Hockingof Oklahoma City, OklahomaPowerful men will die and be forgotten, powerful nations will rise and fall, powerful and emotional movements will flower and then wither, but the Word of God will endure throughout eternity. I'm glad that I can rest with the grand assurance that the Bible will never diminish in power and truth, that its precious promises remain constant no matter what the conditions of the world or the humanity that occupies it. Though I may limit my blessings by my own unbelief, yet, the Word of God is not limited by the attitudes of men. Nothing has been able to destroy the Word of God or make it lose its power or cause it to be ineffective in the hearts of men. The fact that millions and millions of people all over the world are trusting their eternal souls to its message and its provision is proof enough of its enduring power. Though skeptics have frowned at it and false teachers have attempted to pervert its truth, it still stands today and will continue to preach its glorious gospel of Jesus Christ, and souls will continue to be saved until time is no more. People of all ages will enjoy its heavenly wisdom and thrill at the wonder of its content until "we know as we are known." So, let us pause and thank God for leaving us His Holy Word, and especially for the glorious Savior which it proclaims. MONSTROSITYby Elder John R. BlalockA member of a church, writing me of their need of a pastor, said that they would like a man who could preach something other than predestination all the time. I was reminded of a book on theology that I once examined. The author had taken up just about half of the book with the subject of the Sovereignty of God and Predestination. It was a pitiful monstrosity. Supposing, for instance, a child were born with a foot as big as all the rest of his body. The child would lie there with his foot, a gigantic mass, sticking up in the air, and it always would be that way rather than the child standing and walking on a good foot. How pitiful! Likewise those who follow a lopsided theology are to be pitied. Predestination is a basic tenet of the Baptist faith, but it needs to be understood and kept in its place and in proportion to other great Bible doctrine. Moreover anyone who can see only predestination to the shutting out of the doctrine of the Freeness of Salvation is far off from being a Missionary Baptist. Article VI in a "Missionary Baptist Manual" reads: :We believe that the blessings of salvation are made free to all by the gospel, that it is the immediate duty of all to accept them by cordial penitent and obedient faith; and that nothing prevents the salvation of the greatest sinner on earth but his own inherent depravity and voluntary rejection of the gospel; which rejection involves him in an aggravated condemnation."

IN THE BEGINNING GOD!...NEWS OF THE DAYElder Joseph Blalock was ordained to the gospel ministry by Bible Missionary Baptist Church on September 25th, which was the final day of our revival meeting. He will be going as their missionary to start a church in Skamokawa, Washington. Skamokawa is in Wahkaikum county on the South shore of the Columbia River. Currently there is no Baptist church in all of Wahkiakum county although there are some Baptist people living in that county. The revival at Bible Missionary Baptist church resulted in two coming forward and giving their testimonies and asking to join the church by baptism. I would like to have a cartoon in each issue if possible. If there is someone reading this paper who can draw cartoons that will cause us to laugh at the foolish things we sometimes do and cause us to think of how we could better serve our Savior, please E-Mail me and let me know. Without a doubt, evangelist Billy Kelly was one of the greatest evangelists and music soloists that this generation ever knew.
