The 15th day of April is a very special day to this pastor.   This is my second birthday.   I also have a birthday in January, when I was physically born to Andy and Bertha Lee, but this second date is when I was born again; when I received the LORD JESUS CHRIST as my own personal SAVIOR.

     I had known for some time before I was saved that I was going to have to make a choice, either to take Jesus Christ as my Savior or to run the rest of my life, but like so many others before me, I continued to run.   So a week before I was saved I went fishing.   This was the most miserable fishing trip, I believe, I have ever encountered.   The weather was just terrible, stormy and raining and cold.   There was no pleasure that week for me.   When I got home I was still rebelling against the call of God to come to Him, but that Sunday night I knew I could fight God no longer.

     It seems as though heaven just opened up and all of God's wonderful blessings came down on me.   For I knew at that very moment that I was saved, SAVED ETERNALLY.   I can still remember that experience that night with God, even though, when I went to bed that night, I couldn't believe what had really happened.   So I pinched myself on the arm to see if I were dreaming, and Oh, my friends, I wasn't dreaming!   It was for real, for all eternity.

     I have had some wonderful experiences with God since then, but that's one that will never be equaled until I am with Jesus in heaven.   The joy of this is that the same gift is offered to all who will believe that Jesus is the Christ the Son of God, that He came and offered His life on an old Cross just for you.   You too can have a second birthday, for the price has already been paid.   Jesus is waiting just for you to come.   Come to the cross where there is peace that passes all understanding.   Don't delay.   Please don't refuse God's gift that He offers so freely without price to you, for He paid the price Himself.

     The second Friday of each month Mountain View Baptist Church of Kelso, WA, holds a fellowship meeting.   The next one will be held on Friday March 12th at 6:30PM.   Each of these meetings that I have been able to attend has been a real blessing to me both in the preaching and in the fellowship which is something that there is far too little of between churches these days.   I hope I will see you there.   I know if you go the Lord will bless you.

     This ornithological marvel grows at a phenomenal rate.   He has been known to exceed in spiritual growth in six months other species of forty years or more.   He is rarely seen without a Bible, at hand.   His leisure hours are usually spent with an open Bible, a concordance and one or more reference books before him.   He never listens to a sermon or a lesson without a notebook and an open Bible.   If he hears something he doesn't understand he will ask for further explanation.   He often comes up with insights that other older birds have overlooked for years.   He is a real joy for the pastor who enjoys seeing folks grow in grace and knowledge of the truth.   Parrots, who learn by rote and repeat verbatim are fun and good ego builders but this bird is the one the leader of the flock learns to depend upon.
