And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word. I Kings 18:21.

     The religion of Baal had gained complete government approval and control in Israel, through the influence of wicked Queen Jezebel, who had slain the prophets of the Lord.   Elijah said, "I, even I only, remain a prophet of the Lord."   It is my sincere opinion that the doctrine of Evolution and its resulting companion, Global Warming are the god, Baal of today.

     Baal was an idol god, made by human hands.   Likewise, Evolution, is an idol god and a product of man's mind.   It is purely a heathen religion, just as much as other idols of wood or stone.

     Baal's worshipers, with Queen Jezebel as leader, were out to do away with the followers of the Lord.   Likewise, the worshipers of Evolution and Global Warming are just as determined to do away with the followers of the Lord, and with all who believe the Bible.   Worshipers of Baal, no doubt, attributed to Baal, all the marvelous works of nature.

     I have personally seen in idolatrous lands, how the thanks for good crops were given to idol gods, and prayers were made to them in times of famine.   Today, the worshipers of Evolution likewise, glorify Evolution as a god, attributing to Evolution the honor for the Creation of God.

     In "Last Of The Wild," a television program, seen here on certain week nights at 7:30 PM, the narrator is Lorne Green, television star.   I have noticed again and again in his comments such words as "marvels of Evolution," or "We can't understand it.   It is just another marvelous work of Evolution."   Thus the glory of God is attributed to the idol god, Evolution.

     In biology, we learned of many adaptations in nature, by which living creatures can fit into their environment.   For instance, the honey bee has a comb built into his body for combing the pollen from its legs as it pollinates the flowers.   I read once where all the circumstances and influences needed to bring about one adaptation were fed into a computer just to find out how likely such an adaptation could ever occur, simply through chance of Evolution.   The computer, it is said, replied, "Impossible."   Nevertheless the worshipers of Evolution, the modern Baal, have the power in our land and government today just like the worshipers of Baal did in Jezebel's day.

     Many years ago, by majority vote, the people of Tennessee passed a law that Creation should be taught in their schools as an equal possibility with Evolution, but immediately the followers of Baal began a fight.   Soon, they got to the Supreme Court, which threw out the law of the people as "unconstitutional" and restored the worship of Evolution to full and absolute power in the educational system of Tennessee, as it is in all the other forty-nine states.   Who, then, is the power in the United States?   Certainly it is the modern Baal, the god, Evolution.

     A few years ago, in the State of Oregon, we had a State Meteorologist.   It was an honorary position held by the professor of meteorology at Oregon State University.   This man was not willing to concede that Global Warming was a scientific fact because, as he pointed out, temperatures have fluctuated over large periods of time, and it would take many centuries to determine a pattern of warming.   The modern prophets of Baal went to work, and now the State of Oregon no longer has a State Meteorologist.

     Baal, as in all idolatrous countries, could live in harmony with any other false god, but could not tolerate the One True God.   So it is with the gods, Evolution and Global Warming, today, that control our national education system.   For instance the government supported public television channel has daily programs of yoga, a heathen religion, and now they are introducing "Transcendental Meditation," which is merely another form of the same religion, whose initiates literally worship a heathen god.   These heathen teachings were paid for, out of our tax dollars, yet when have we ever seen a gospel preacher allowed on tax supported television?

     The worshipers of Baal are much taken with astrology and modern seers and fortune tellers, anything but the true God.

     EVOLUTION IS A LIE.   "And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:   That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness."   II Thessalonians 2:11,12.   Evolution is just a lie.   Every false god is a lie.   A lie may appear to be true, but it will not stand up under close inspection.   So it is with Evolution or any other false god.   Some people, who will only take a superficial view of nature, are led to think Evolution is reasonable.   But they will never take a close inspection.

     I remember years ago, when Dr. Clark, then curator of the Smithsonian Institute, caused quite a furor when he declared all the fossil remains went to prove a separate creation rather than evolution.   He said that all the fossils, as well as all living animals, could be classified into species belonging to their respective families, and though there were wide variations of species within the families, the gaps between the families were many times larger; and not only had there never been found a link between man and the monkey, there had also never been found a link between any of the other families in nature.

     Someone has truly said, If Evolution were true, then all over the world there would be a conglomeration of hideous creatures, rather than an orderly arrangement of families and species with marvelous adaptations to environments and settings.   "And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind:   and it was so." Genesis 1:24.   I know this to be true.    "That they all might be damned, who believe not the TRUTH, but had pleasure in unrighteousness."

     On the one side is God's Word, THE TRUTH, and it never fails.   TRUTH is always TRUTH, no matter what men may say.   TRUTH is something you can put your trust in and worry no more.   Jesus said, "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." Matthew 24:35.   His words are TRUTH.   On the other side is Evolution, a LIE, and damnation is the final end of those who believe it.   Remember you are held responsible before God for what you believe.

     Jesus said, "Enter ye in at the strait gate:(tight squeeze gate) for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:   Because strait(tight squeeze) is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." Matthew 7:13,14.   The Evolutionists may be in power in our land, but happy is he that believes God's Word and enters by the strait gate, the Lord Jesus Christ, into Eternal Life.

     Finally, the worshipers of Baal were noted for their wickedness.   It is said, "The attractiveness of this worship to the Jews undoubtedly grew out of its licentious character." (Smith's Bible Dictionary)   Likewise, the worshipers of Evolution are people who "believe not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness." II Thessalonians 2:11.

     It is an Evolutionist-controlled school system that has perverted our young people, almost within one generation.   When I was in high school they were just beginning to get dancing into the schools.   Later they got the reading of the Bible out of the schools.   Now, they have prohibited praying in school, and in its place, they have detailed sex education and birth control.

     Yes, the worshipers of Evolution have "PLEASURE IN UNRIGHTEOUSNESS."   SIN is a better word for it, and our nation reaps the consequences.   Ten thousand unborn babies murdered in Oregon every year!   A recent newspaper headline stated that one fourth of high school students have, or have had, a venereal disease.

     Evolutionists teach that man is merely an animal, and there is, therefore, no logical basis for morals, other than temporary customs.   They have condemned all literature with moral teaching, and instituted the study of literature with no moral, or even depraved moral, values.

     The motion picture and television businesses have done likewise.   The natural result has been the breakdown of morals and growing practice of all kinds of sin and crime.   Just a few days ago front page headlines of our Portland daily paper, declared that all the billions spent for crime prevention in the United States, have been proven to be a failure.

     Those who accept Evolution are of two kinds; those who are very ignorant, and those who are very prejudiced against a holy and righteous God.   They deliberately force themselves to believe in a ridiculous and groundless theory, because they desire to continue in wickedness and don't want to think of having to stand before the judgment seat of God.   They sooth their fears with the idea, "I'm just an animal, and when I'm dead, I'll just be dead, that's all."   But God says, "It's appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment." Hebrews 9:27.

     Have you had a meeting with the Creator, the Lord Jesus Christ?   "All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made." John 1:3.   The place to meet Him is at the Cross, where you can see Him suffering and dying for the sins of the world; where you can learn how great the love, with which God loved you.   "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16.   "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8.   Jesus said, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life." John 6:47.

     We read in I Kings 18:21, how that Elijah challenged the people of Israel to choose between the Lord and Baal~~ "And the people answered him not a word."   How sad it must have made Elijah feel.   And how sad it is today, when people will not take a stand for the Lord.   I'm glad I took a stand for Jesus, one day, many years ago.   I stepped out, and I met Him, and He has been my best Friend for all this long time.   One of these days, I shall see Him face to face.   He is more real than all the world.   "O taste and see that the LORD is good:   blessed is the man that trusteth in him." Psalms 34:8.   Put your trust in Him, and you'll be thankful throughout this life and for all eternity.

     We are all looking forward to the fellowship meeting at Cloverdale Baptist Church in Cloverdale, Oregon.   They hold this two day fellowship meeting every year in June.   The editor of this paper looks forward to this meeting every year.   For him, it is like going home.   Pastor Randy Winesbourgh tells us, this year, the days are Thursday June 24th, and Friday June 25th.   The fellowship starts with lunch at noon on Thursday and ends with lunch at noon on Friday.   In between, there will be preaching, special music, sleep Thursday night, breakfast Friday morning and even some testimonies.

THE SURE FOOTED STRAIGHT-LINE SOARER

     This bird seldom falls into the devil's snares because he faithfully follows the instructions of the Word.   He often soars far above the plane in which other birds fly as he puts his faith in the Word of God and speedily sails in a straight line toward the goal of 'winning Christ.'   He will not be found engaging in 'situation theology' because he fervently believes God said what He meant and that He means what he said and what was true yesterday will be true tomorrow.   This is a bird you can count on.   He will not lead you in circles.   He takes seriously his responsibility to follow Christ and thus be an example to others.   While some might think he has 'tunnel vision' the truth is that he has his eyes on Christ and there is nothing the world can offer to rival this goal.
